My sister is mum to 2 year old twin girls (2yrs 4 months) and is having a really hard time. She has managed to get them to the stage where they will both wee and poo on the potty if they are running around naked but as soon as she puts anything on the bottom half, even just knickers they wee or poo in them. she stays calm with them, tells them where they must go on the potty, that knickers arent nappies etc..

Any ideas?

Bumping. I think I may have the same problem!

My advice is give it time. My Ds 2.9mth was like this. Got him using the potty when naked at the age of 2.3mths but has taken till now to get him to use the potty when wearing underpants. Just kept trying him till he got it. It takes time and patience. This time around it was warm weather so just had him out in the garden with loose fitting shorts on and no underpants. He had a few accidents at first and then he seem to get it. Then I moved onto underpants aswell as shorts and he now tells me everytime he needs a wee. Still working on the poos though. Xx

My son turned two today. He sits on potty but won't go in in, only sits on it if watching videos of himself I might add, on my phone... Lol. Any advice to get him to use potty? Thanks char x

I use to put his favourite teddy on it and say teddy was having a wee wee. I even sat on it a few times and pretended to wee. I then let him wander round with no bottoms on and put potty in the middle of the room while he was watching tv. He just went over and sat on it while watching the gruffalo one day and happen to do a poo and wee while he was sat there. When he saw what he'd done he was so pleased with himself and I made a massive deal by taking him upstairs so we could flush it down the loo. After that he used it everytime he was naked and we rewarded him with stickers. 7 mths down the line we've finally got him out of pull Ups during the day. X

Thanks all. Looks like she is just going to have to persevere with it. At home naked they are fine, even with a dress on they go on the potty but as soon as knickers go on they wet themselves!! Maybe it will just take time for them to understand

My DD is 2.8 is the same. She will take herself to the potty or toilet when her bottom half is bare, when she has pants on she still sits on the potty bit will wee/poo through her pants
Its 3 weeks and im at my wits end about how to get her to pull her pants down to wee :(
