Sorry, wrong location but more traffic....

Dd (2.4) has been talking about stopping using nappies for a while now and seems very keen on wearing big girl pants. So we've taken the plunge and bought her some pants, talked about what to do, she's chosen her own potty and has been promised chocolate for successful wees and poos. All good, except that when she needs to go she starts getting in a real tizz, doesn't want to sit on the potty, is very obviously holding her wee in so definitely knows she needs to go. She sat on the potty for stories but didn't go, then came off and resumed jigging around, before eventually weeing on the stairs. Still wouldn't go even though I knew there was more to come, got increasingly stressed then took up the offer of putting a nappy back on.

So, too early? Or something we need to persevere with? She seemed to be finding it v stressful so I'm inclined to scrap it for now, but she's desperate to wear big girl pants.

Such decisions!

I should also say that she's even less happy with being put on the toilet so that's not looking like an option...

I'd leave it for a week or too. Before we started potty training we just left the potty lying around and sat them on it twice a day. Once with a drink and snack and cbeebies and later while the bath was running. Didnt ask them to do anything but made a HUGE fuss if they did.

2.4 is still very young and perhaps she wants to please but can't quite manage it yet. It will happen but sounds like you both need a wee break Smile

I had Successful Potty Training by Heather Welford and can recommend it. Dd loved this one
