Getting upset in build up to wee

We are on day 2 of potty training 2.7 yo DD. It's going quite well so far, day 1 she had 2 little wee accidents on floor then managed 5 wees on potty and even a poo. Today she's had most wees in potty but had 1 double accident of wee and poo in pants. The problem is she's getting herself quite worked up when she starts needing a wee. She'll say to me "oh, no, need a wee wee" so i pop her on potty. She keeps getting off and running in and out of room, sitting back on potty for a few seconds. She eventually stays sat on potty but cries up until the point she actually lets go of the wee. Is this just because she's nervous of this new feeling of weeing freely without a nappy or is she maybe not ready for training?

Distract , Distract, Distract. Sing, dance, read a story anything to distract the poor lovely. You could give her an Ipad or sit her in front of the tv while she panics, put her fav tv program on, hold her hand and calm her down. All I have to offer. Good luck . Smile

Hi, can I just asked how you got on, I see this post was a month ago. I too am a couple of days into potty training and having a similar problem, dd knows what she needs to do, and does the whole running back an forth to the toilet for ages but won't let the wee come out and gets upset. She won't even go for a wee in her nappy either now.so don't really want to go back if possible, She will get to the point she can't hold it and has an accident. Sits on the potty fine and happy with books, iPad ect but as soon as she starts to wee she panics and wants off the potty, have also tried to go straight to the toilet but its just the same. If you had a break though and have any advice in the last month please let me know, thanks

Yes! Almost exactly the same problem here. Will try videos next (but I think I'll get the same thing you have, Panda - she'll want off as soon as anything actually starts to nearly come out). Sorry I have no advice. Well, nursery have suggested a princess dress + 'princesses use the toilet' (not keen on the princess motivation, somehow, and I'd have to buy and dress and I doubt it would work), and they have suggested ... patience.
