Great when out and about but not at home

My DD (2.6) has been potty training for about a month. When we are out and about she is great - she will ask to go before hand and can hold it if we need to get to a toilet, but at home it's not going as well.

To begin with she was great but recently it seems like she doesn't care and will just wet herself when we are at home. Whenever it happens we remind her that wees go on the potty and get her to sit on the potty to make sure she has finished. Do I go back to just sitting her on the potty every half hour? I try to leave her pants and trousers off but we have a cold house and she loves wearing her pants. She can't take them off by herself at the moment (although yesterday she went to the potty through her pants and trousers - some credit for the inginuity surely!).

Any and all advice needed!

Is she using a toilet when out, instead of a potty? I just wonder if this might be the problem because my DS was hopeless with potty training until we got one of those "child seats" to put over the toilet. Then, having seen others use the toilet, he seemed to get the idea. Hope this helps!

She uses the toilet when we are out and either the potty or toilet at home. She will happily use either

She just doesn't tell us that she needs to go at home. She will tell us when she has gone, and where - my sofa can't take much more!

I don't know if I can help at all but just so you know I'm having exactly the same problem, all good when out and about, can be out for hours, here, there, on the tube for ages, no problems. Step in the door though and it's like DS just doesn't care anymore. DS will also happily use potty, toilet, patch of grass (!!) but he just won't tell me when he needs to go. How on earth do you get them to tell you?? My washing machine can't take much more, I swear the poor old thing groans when it sees me coming!

Ahhhh! You are both my saviour! We are having the same problem and have been for the last 3 months, since we started training. We have never had an accident in the car and not any when out and about for a while but always LOADS (3-5 per day) at home. she is great at nursery too. If we go to party's / soft play / other people's houses we are in pee-pee central (thankfully no soiling of other peoples homes!) I had wondered if she was overly excited in these situations? She uses the toilet exclusively after we decided to ditch the potty thinking it might be that, she was also using it as a little throne sitting on it for 20 minutes at a time! At present she is not even asking for the toilet and happily wanders around soaked through. She has also entered a 'NO' phase and I do wonder if it is part and parcel of it all? Our LO is very outgoing & at times I feel a little too smart for 2 1/2. All help / questions gratefully appreciated!

I think we have had a small break through. She loves her Hello Kitty pants and in a moment of exasperation I told her that Kitty does not like to be weed on. Since then she's been a lot better. I have also go back to telling her to sit on the potty if she hasn't been in a while (only accident when I gave her too much to drink).

I know my sister-in-law did that with my nephews, bought special pants with characters on them and made a bit of a fuss of these pants and how special they were and how we didn't want to get them wet did we?? Apparently it worked. I felt like I had a bit of a breakthrough the other day, we were in the car and DS said to me that he was 'holding on', which was great, at least I know he's aware of what's happening. Honestly, I just think he's so relaxed at home he couldn't care less and just let's it all hang out! At the moment my son is desperate for a marble run, played with one at a friend's place and is now hell bent on getting one...wonder if I should use that as a bargaining tool....hmm...evil or genius?? Ha!
