Starting potty training and long bus trips - help!!

Hi I have a DD 2.5 and have started potty training. We have been on a few short outings to the local park and cafe with no accidents, but I am scared of getting on a bus or going on any sort of outing for the day. Am in central London with no car. Any suggestions on how to handle this much appreciated!!!

You could get a travel potty. Something like this:

We haven't quite tackled potty training properly yet so i'm not the best person for advice but one of my RL friends has one of these for when out walking the dog, long car trips etc and swears by it.

I'm not saying use it on the bus (that might be a bit gross) but you could pop discretely down a side street or behind a bin/wall/phone box to use it, if you are too far from a public loo.

Thanks for your suggestions pizzaqueen - I have seen these and was wondering whether to get one or not. Seems like a worthwhile investment as DD did not like it when I put her on a normal toilet in a cafe before!!

Yes - agree cannot use on the bus - so how do you factor in how long they can hold on? Do not want to be on a bus when an accident happens ideally!!!

Need to take bus trips of over half an hour often and don't want to revert back to nappies to have to do these out of fear!!

Maybe try to get her to use the potty just before getting on the bus? And if she gets desperate whilst on the bus you might need to get off to avoid accident. It won't be long before she can hold it longer though if she's truly ready to be trained.

At the moment she doesn't tell me when she wants to go - she either waits until I put her on the potty or has an accident. Think I might just need to do as you say and use a bit if trial and error to see what works...

Definitely a good idea to take a potty - let her know you've got it with you as it's important she knows it's there if needed. I would also put knickers on under some pull-ups. That way she'll still feel it if wet but will avoid leaks on the bus seat! Good luck.
