Should we do nights yet?

DS is 2.8, has been toilet trained since 2.4, and has been dry during lunch time nap for a couple of weeks.

He still has very wet nappies at night.

I'm just wondering whether we should start preparing for nights? I know the received wisdom is to wait until he is dry most nights, or asks to take his nappy off, but I can't help but feel having nappies or pull ups in at night is confusing him. He's very smart, but just isn't that upset by having wet pants or weeing in his nappy!

Should we just give it a go and see what happens?

Switch to pull ups at night stop with nappies. When dry for 2 weeks don't bother with pull ups . Put potty in bedroom

No, I don't think just give it a go, it's a hiding to nothing.

You can't do anything about nighttime in my experience, it just comes of its own accord. One day you'll realise most his nappies overnight have been dry or nearly so, & if he's old enough you can chat to him if he wants to try going without. If he can't then you say "Never mind" and wait a while longer.

Sometimes they like to deliberately wee in a nappy, and I'm pretty sure you can't do much about that either (speaking from experience!!).

Ds has just started out of nappies at night at 4.5, he was trained day time at under three, we have given night training a go before but he couldn't go more than 2/3 nights. This time it has been his decision and he is doing really well. Leave it if he has really wet nappies at night.

Cool well tonight he asked not to wear a pull up so we will see how it goes not expecting much sleep tho!
