How to get DS into Pants

My DS is 2yrs 3 months, we have been potty training for the past 3-4 wks and it has been a slow process. We have finally managed to get him dry during the day if we are at home and he can run round with nothing on his bottom half.
We want to try and move on to the next stage of him wearing pants and learning to pull them up and down to use the potty. Unfortunately we have hit a bit of a brick wall as he refuses to wear them goes into one. I don?t want to stress him out, but does anyone have any ideas on how we can get him to wear them?
Any advice welcome.

Its frustrating, but realising that pants are not a nappy comes with maturity as much as anything. I found that bribary was the way forward to get my children over this particular hurdle. (Ds we used chocolate buttons and dd we used pringles)

Have you let him choose his own pants at the shop?
