Are we on track?

DS is verging on 3 and we've had a couple of false starts in the past. He is now as ready as he'll ever be in terms of understanding what is meant to happen but I believe he may be a little on the lazy side...!

We've reached day 4 and so far...

  1. We are at about 60-70% accuracy on the loo (not interested in the potty which I think is probably a good thing for us)
  2. He's not good at telling me when he has to go but I have become adept at recognising the nervous 'dance' he does which usually gets him there on time, usually with his agreement
  3. He usually goes between 2-3 hours between wees
  4. He has done a poo on the loo but now thinks he has to sit on the loo for all his farts as well... is this normal?

Does this sound like we're on the right tracks? I'm guessing he'll start to recognise the signs more so that he is more willing to tell me but he does seem to get annoyed at my constant reminding and so his default answer when I ask him if he needs to go is almost always "no" whether he means it or not. Is this ok? We have to go out for lunch with a famiy friend today and I'm extremely nervous to say the least! It'll be our first proper outing in big boy pants!!
Thanks in advance!

Yep, this sounds on track! DS is about the same age and we are 3 weeks in. It took 10 days for him to be dry all day, but he hasn't had a wet accident since. Still only 50% on poos, so frankly I'd be delighted if he wanted to sit on th toilet for very fart - far preferable to the pooing in pants situation we currently have!
Suggest if you're going to someone else's house try Pampers disposable changing mats - these are perfect for him to sit on to protect upholstry/ car seats etc so you can relax! Good luck!
