22m girl... Potty training 2steps back

Started potty training (at home) about 4/5 weeks ago. Dd took to it really well. Would leave her nappy-free mostly or pull-up or knickers on. Of course a few accidents but she got the host really quick. Then she's started to teethe quite bad with makes her temperament up & down so very sensitive and started to make a fuss sometimes. This wasn't the problem. It was her poo that turned into diarrhoea so impossible to catch. I watch her body language but she's always on the go and just forgets more often now. Also had hand, foot & mouth that she caught from nursery so that did the same with her poo's so more recently she's back in nappies in the day/ pull ups as opposed to pull up/ knickers/ nothing.

Either that or she does tell me (when I'm in the middle of nursing dd2 (3m) )

What can I do? Pull ups no good? I wanted to start a fresh today, just knickers at home? Obviously stepping stones to when we're put and bedtime.

It does annoy me sometimes as some people think its a competition regardless of what the child has been going through - my dd's case, a lot emotionally with her daddy being away.

I'm in no rush but just wanted to have a go again. I can't afford to get stressed over it, not with two babies, so just some tips on gradual progress please!

She isn't ready, especially not with being ill.

I would leave it until you aren't BFing so often and then try again.

She is really little. I never understand the hurry to get them out of nappies - it isn't like you are hand washing huge pails of terrys and muslins.

I think it's a bit early too. My DD is the same age but I plan on doing it next summer.

just leave her a bit and start again we you both are more ready. there is no shame having a 3yo in nappies, if that is when she's ready.

I think just knickers is definitely the way to go when potty training. IME they need to understand the connection between weeing and getting wet and they just don't "click" if they're in pullups. But I think as you'll be pretty much starting from scratch there will be lots and lots of accidents for the first week at least while she works it out. Tbh, I would wait another month or two, especially if you can't afford to get stressed. 22 months is very young, even for girls.

Sod it till after Christmas. If you leave it till she's 3 you'll do it in a week and have about 3 accidents.

Another vote that you wait until early next spring. Too young, not ready.

I'm in no hurry. Just thought as I had a go first time round. she was brilliant then it went a bit pear shaped after being poorly/ teething.

Thanks. Smile
