Dd has been potty trained (daytime) for a couple of months. She uses the potty at home and will go on a normal toilet if we're out. She can generally hold wee for a few minutes (enough to do mad dash to public loo, but not longer). We are going on a 5 hr flight in a couple of weeks and wondering whether it will set her back if we use a pull up for the flight and transfer to the hotel, planning for her to use the toilet if we can, but pull up as a safety net in case she needs a wee when the seat belt sign is on / while we are on the bus.

Any advice / experiences gratefully recieved.

A friend of mine potty trained her DS on a long haul flight as they had nothing better to do than go for a wee every twenty mins.

We used a pull up for DD on journeys probably for at least a year after she potty trained, partly just for convenience of not having to stop if in the car. It didn't set her back at all.

I would put her in a pull-up. I remember seeking a child absolutely desperate to go to the toilet when the plane was about to take off. They weren't allowed and were extremely distressed. For this reason alone, I would go down the pull up route, even if they only wear it for take off/landing.

Pull up it is then - that is one of my worries that she'll need at the exact time she can't go! and potty training on a plane - that is a brave parent who does that!!

Thanks everyone.

We're not long back from hol...had DS in pull up while travelling but got him on the toilet at every opportunity. Pull up came off dry after both journeys.
