Poo nightmares....any tips?

DS will be 3 in Sept. Since the start of potty/toilet training, he has always done his poos during his nap or when asleep at night. After much bribing rewarding, we have finally persuaded him to poo in the loo (thanks so much to poo goes to pooland). However, he does this just before bed, and this has turned into an epic of trips to the loo, some productive and some far from it, and basically dragging bedtime out until 8.30pm, which is far too late for me him.

We've tried stickers, pleading, begging, shouting, cajoling, etc, but this has now been going on for a couple of months and seems to be getting absolutely no better. I thought of putting him on the potty, but he would not countenance that. The bathroom blind is closed, the light is off, and I try leaving him so that he is not tempted to chat to me. The lack of adequate sleep is impacting on his behaviour, but I cannot see the wood for the trees! Any suggestions would be gratefullly accepted!

I'd be tempted to give him a go at the toilet then put him in bed with lots of sudocrem to protect his bottom.

DD1 did this for a while but has grown out of it now.

Good luck :)
