Going to start potty training my 2 1/2 yr old this week. All ready to do it at home and just wondered what I do about going out??

Take a potty for emergencies (but don't use in middle of tesco in case you didn't see that thread!) and just stop at every toilet you see and ask them if they need to go.

Potette travel potty (available Mothercare, Boots etc) is great for going out - it has disposable liners which you just tie up and throw away like a nappy bag, so you don't get stuck with a dirty potty out and about.

Take several changes of clothes (incl socks) and expect more accidents than at home.

Also, avoid going out at all for the first few days if you can.

And get some disposable change mats and put one over the car seat/pram seat etc. to cut down on washing.

Take some spare clothes too! Also handy if they wear some croc type shoes - if they do wee before you get to the loo, you can wash them under the tap once you get there and put them back on knowing they will dry quick and your child won't be squelching around town.
