We've tried putting 'big boy pants' on son who is 2.5 for past couple of days. If we remind him & catch him in time he will use the potty but other than that no luck. He's wet his pants a couple of times & not even noticed. Do you think he's just not ready? If he's not it's no big deal we'll try again in a few months but don't want to give up if this is a common problem at first.

If he's wet his pants and not even noticed, then I'd say he is not ready. I'd put him back in nappies. But, I would not say that the last couple of days have been a waste of time, because now he is aware of pants for him, so he might ask for them when he feels ready. This is what DS did, after a similar start at 2.7. A week later he asked for pants, and potty training was very straightforward and easy from then.

I've posted recently about my 2.3yo DD and potty training. After 2 successful days, where she got it in the potty, started realising that she was wet/weeing etc, she asked for a nappy yesterday & chose to wee in it instead of the potty 5ft away. I have put the potty in the bathroom, knickers in her drawer (rather than next to the nappies) and figured, if nothing, else, she is now more aware of when she is weeing, as disposables are so absorbant, I'm not even sure she can feel it. If she can ask for a nappy, she can equally say 'no nappy' when she's ready!!
