The first time I tried to PT DS things were going quite well, poos and pees in potty or toilet. He would happily use either. Then his bum fell into the water at a friends house and he was put off completely. I decided to just leave him for a few months before trying again.
Next attempt was met with tantrums at even taking off his nappy. When I could get the nappy off he would beg for a nappy when he felt like he needed to go. Tried sticker charts, offering sweeties etc. nothing enticed him.
Despite all this, he has on occasion taken himself off to the toilet at the friends house where he'd fallen in, dropped his nappy in the park, and taken off his nappy to sit on a potty at someone elses house. If I try to help him he gets upset. I'm not allowed near the bathroom at friends house for example.
So what to do with a DC that refuses to go anywhere near a potty (apart from random times elsewhere)? All PT advice seems to say put them on the potty 10 mins after drinking, or every hour... I wish it were that easy!
I want to try again but just don't know where to start with our past history. I don't want to try and 'fail' again (for want of a better word).
I thought pull-ups might be good for him after him randomly pulling down nappy, and given that he doesn't really want help, but he won't wear them!
