Just started potty training my 2.3yo DD. First attempt, as thought we'd give it a go whilst I'm off work, the weather is helpful, & as DC#2 is due in November I thought it's worth a crack now, rather than leave it until nearer then iyswim.
So, today. We started well, with DD happily ensconced in knickers & willing to sit on the potty (I had to resort to stickers for every willing attempt as she threw a massive tantrum on previous introductions to the potty). Have more stickers, choc buttons & buckets of enthusiastic praise ready for any successful sitting...
We mainly had wee accidents throughout the day, although by this evening, DD was asking to go to the toilet after the fact to get tissue paper to wipe herself up.
After one accident, we managed to sit on the potty & dribble a tiny bit of wee in the potty.
Poo went in pants, but she was willing to sit on the potty to 'finish' (although nothing more was produced...)
I'm thinking that's a pretty run-of-the-mill reasonable start to potty training - getting her used to being nappy free. DH, I think, is a bit more pessimistic about the successfulness (relatively speaking) of today.
Does this seem like a reasonably successful first day to those who've been there, done that?
