after he pooed in his pants for the 1,000 day in a row 5 minutes after sitting on the potty.

How do I get him to use the potty to poo? He's doing brilliant with pee.

Don't lose it with him or he will be stressed out about it. Easy to say...

All you do is stay calm and carry on with what you are doing. He will get it eventually. It's very very normal for toddlers to be weird about pooing. My dd use to go off and poo in the garden! She's 13 now and thankfully doesn't that any more!

Ps. It's also very normal for parents to lose it from time to time. Don't give yourself a hard time.

Tee I feel your pain. I'm potty training DS (2.10) who wees in toilet perfectly happily but will only poo in his pants. I couldn't give a tiny rat's ass where he poos, but when I know he's done one and am trying to clean him up he has a full on tantrum, won't let me near him while maintaining that he hasn't pooed. He used to do this anyway in nappies, but stopped when we would give him time outs (I can't let him sit in poo, he's had balanitis really badly and I'm haunted by the memories of him on IV antibiotics). But I am struggling to disconnect the 2, and I don't want him to think any discipline or annoyance on my part is to do with the poo in pants when it's about his refusal to get clean!

I was same with my DS 2.11 ... pees no problem but first couple of days was pooing in pants...til I resorted to bribery! A small car or puzzle for each toilet poo...and he's been great ever since. In fact, last 3 days he's not asked for his treat

Mine is the opposite. DD gets all the poos in the toilet but just continues to wee in the pullups. Have tried in knickers and she just wees in the knickers. In fact will just sit in a big puddle of wee without saying anything.
Tried endlessly asking if she needs a wee. She just says 'No, I weed in my pullups'. We reward every wee she does get in the toilet but they are all achieved with us just plonking her on the loo. She never asks to go, even though I know she knows when they're coming because if she's not got the pullups on she will sometimes panic and run to the toilet.
Is it just laziness? Do I just need to give up two days where she has nothing on and I just follow her around with a potty?

its weird that my parents' generation seem to think kids are clean before they are dry but virtually everyone on here seems to say the same that their kids are dry sometimes months before they're clean. Its certainly true of my DS (2.11) whose been training for about 2 months now. He's about 80% ok with wees(though only with constant vigilance and asking and pre-emptive potty / toilet visits) I'd say but only ever done about 4 poos in the potty and does the whole. "stay away", "no, no poo" thing when you ask him. Will this ever end????
