So just starting this whole potty training malarkey, DS is only 2.1 but has been telling me when he is doing a poo for ages so I decided to see how it goes. He's been in pants and comes to me when he wants a poo, and we go to the toilet with his special seat on and after a minute or so he does it! Says a big yay to himself (lots of praise/applause from me and choc button) and that's all good, 2 days (2 poos a day :/) and all successes.

The prob is wees, he just has no idea/care about when he does it, he does realise he is wet though. I just can't manage to catch him and get him on the potty! He hates sitting on his potty and tbh don't blame him as it's leaving a giant red mark on his bum. Also - day 2 he now holds it for 2-3 hours, so if I miss one well there's not much hope of getting another one before his nap! Help!

We had the same issue. It was like DS could feel poo coming more than wee.

I put DS on the potty regularly and slowly extended the time between trips.

And covered the room in bed mats in case of accidents. Stickers or a choc button for sitting on the potty rather than weeing because they can't help it if they don't need it.

Also let him watch five mins of tv while on potty and that tv was actually snippets of Elmos Potty Time, dirt cheap off amazon.

Hand on heart I can safely say that Elmo potty trained my child!
