DD nearly 4 has gone back to weeing in her pants - help!

She was potty trained at 2, we've had a few relapses since where getting the star chart out sorted it, but this time nothing is working. Tried getting cross and taking her favourite stuff away, went back to the stars with a big present promised...nothing working this time. Today my tactic was to ignore it and leave her in her wet pants and she has weed herself all day, pants and shorts really stinking tonight. Can't carry on doing that. MIL says put her in a nappy. Don't know what to do, don't understand why she's doing it, nothing major is going on - any help gratefully received!

have you tried sitting down and role playing with some dolls? start just playing letting her lead and then gradually approach the topic. is she in nursery? has something happened there? is she worried about something ( its surprising what kids worry about, it may be something that she has heard or even seen on tv for example) or has she had a cold recently where she needs to wee more and cant hold it in?

Are you sure she doesn't have an UTI? DD has been potty trained for a while and then had a few accidents when she got it.

I agree with winnybella, would eliminate possibility of infection first.
