DS is just 2, knows when he has done a poo and may just be able to tell me before he goes.
Wee is a different matter: he shows no awareness apart from deliberately pushing out a wee into the carpet when I get him ready for bed.
Personally I don't think he's ready yet but wondered if this controlling a wee of the start of it?
He's also started to annoying habit of squishing his bottom about in a pooey nappy, whereas previously he'd be horrified at even sitting down if he'd had a poo. His poo is usually very sticky messy stuff so it really makes nappy changes awkward! I don't want him to start enjoying the sensation of being covered in poo, which is what seems to be happening... Any thoughts anyone?

I'd leave it longer... Im no expert, but if he is messing about with wees I doubt he will co-operate. Did I read on another thread that you have a newborn? If that is the case I'd definately leave it longer. Grin

My DS 3 last month also likes to squish around in his pooey nappies, I've ask him why and he says its warm on his bottom. I am an easy going mum so haven't started potty training as yet. Do you use cloth nappies ? I have from the start thinking he would not like having a wet nappy on but he does not care been wet or dirty so I'm waiting a little longer to start. I double up on the nappy liners and use snug fitting plastic pants, this keeps it all contained in the nappy untill he eventually comes to me for a change an hour or so latter.
