Child poo on carpet - due to diarrhoea - how do I remove it?

Hi,

A nephew has had an accident and left a lot of poo on my stair carpet today. I have wiped up the solid stuff but there is a lot of brown stains on my carpet due to the diarrhoea. How can I shift the remaining watery mess from my carpet? I don't want to hire a cleaning company. Can you give me the names of suitable products and how I can use them to get rid of the mess?

Thanks

I would make a solution of biological laundry detergent in water and wash the carpet with that. Then soak the areas with clean water and blot up with old towels as a 'rinse'. The idea is that the enzymes in the detergent will digest the poo and it will become harmless and non smelly.

You may need to do this more than once.

Bicarbonate of soda sprinkled on dry and then hoovered up will get rid of any smell. What about Vanish for the mark?

1001 mousse is amazing!
