The Morning Poo!

DD is 19 months and not ready for potty training but every morning, about 10-30min after she gets up, she will do a poo. Normally these are quite big affairs (sorry TMI) and often require a set of new clothes etc.

So I'm wondering if it is worth sitting her on the potty at this time in the morning to see if she will go in there or will that just confuse her if we are not actually properly training? Any advice gratefully received!

Will not confuse her at all. If she is happy to sit until she poos, great. Years ago, babies were put on the potty for poos to save scraping it off cloth nappies, especially when laundry was such hard work.

You might try watching her carefully until she shows signs of an imminent poo and pop her on the potty then, rather than sit her there for ages and find she gets up at the critical moment! She might decide this is better that having to have all her clothes changed as well as her nappy. As long as all her associations with the potty are positive and happy why not?

Yes, I think I will give it a go and just see how she gets on - I can definitely tell when she's about to go so will try popping her on then!
