Am (trying, not getting anywhere) potty training my very reluctant 3 year old.

I say reluctant because there are NO SIGNS AT ALL (doesnt even seem to realise / care when he has pooed or has a wet nappy) that he is even ready but I just feel we cant leave him much longer surely? He is the only 3 yo I know who isnt at least part of the way there.

Anyway, we can get him to sit on the potty, so far so good. Only he has never weed on it in the last 3 months we have been slowly trying him on it. He holds it in for aggggges (record is 3 hours) so it gets to the point where I am torn between putting a nappy on because I dont want to upset him / give him an infection and thinking that we have got this far anyway might aswell see it through until he does eventually go on it.

What do I do? Please help!

If he is not showing any signs of readiness and potty trainingvis causing you so much stress, then I'd leave it and try again Inca couple of weeks - maybe one of the long week ends coming up? DS was 2.9 and had acfalse start, then almost overnight success a week or two later - he told me one day he wanted to wear pants.

Has he tried weeing standing up into the toilet? You might need a step at first if he's not quite tall enough, and it can be a bit of a pain in public toilets, but my DS has much preferred this method from the beginning.

Poos, however, are a different matter - still struggling with those and he's 4 next month.......

Yes, if he's not ready yet, he's not ready. Try again in a few weeks Smile
