How to get DS to poo!

A few months ago now DS (2yrs and 8 months) had an anal fissure which made pooing painful. Saw the Dr he gave us lactulose and suggested a cream. The fissure cleared up but now DS is terrified of doing a poo so he holds on and holds on until there's an explosion. I am still giving him lactulose which makes his poo soft.

I am trying a sticker chart which works well for wees on the toilet / potty BUT not encouraging poos at all. Thinking that I need to give chocolate if he poos perhaps?
He's not old enough to understand that the more he goes the less it will hurt. I don't know what else to do.

Yes perhaps a chocolate button will do the trick Grin

I totally sympathise, my dd was reluctant pooer. I would give choc button 4 encouragement, he needs 2 poo. Good luck.

Am offering a choccy button BUT it's not enough to make him go Sad. He's a pretty determined lad, perhaps he's hanging on for me to up the stakes to a packet of buttons!

Have you tried the Mr Poo Goes to Pooland story? I haven't tried it myself as I'm still waiting for DS to be ready to potty train, but it is meant to help reluctant poo-ers...

I don't think it is on the Internet - it's a PDF file. If you can't find it, PM your email I address and I can email it to you. :)

Thanks, will try it, getting pretty desperate now.

What about something a little bit more exciting than a button? I give choc money or one of the little cadburys mini eggs to make it more ''special'

Not been for nearly a week now!
