Hi My DS is 2 in a few weeks and has been showing interest in wearing pants and using the potty for a while now, we just played with the idea a bit, bought some pants and a pottty together got excited by it all but was aware he is still quite young so didn't want to put any pressure on him.
when we are at home DS always strips off totally naked and very reliably uses the potty for poo's and wee's telling me when he needs to go and holding it in if the potty isn't immediately available...but when he wears pants its like he totally forgets all this and pretty much always wee's in his pants and doesn't even seem to notice if he is wet!

So is he ready? do I just need to hibernate at home with a naked DS for a while until he get the hang of it and when should I introduce clothes?! or wait till he is a bit older and able to really comprehend the difference between pants and nappies?

Thankyou

dont worry - DS used to have to wear a towel on his head (dont ask me why) but he grew out of it

he just felt more comfortable that way

My dd1 only got it right when naked to start with. But after a week I started putting her in trousers at home and accepting they would get wet and then she started to realise in them aswell

I could have written your post about my DS
he has been like this since he was 18mths

I am afraid to say he is now 28mths and still the same.
However at no time have I made a massive effort to push him
He went through a few months where he was completely anti-potty and anti-toilet so we gave up completely for a bit.

Now I am just waiting for the weather to get warmer and then I will concentrate more on it.

But DS1 was 3 and a half before he showed the slightest interest in the potty, so I am not too worried as it will happen eventually.

Just encourage (perhaps with bribes - only thing which worked for DS1)
