ds is 2.9. He is due to start pre school next term and they want them trained. He announced last week that he wanted to try big boy pants, though I am certain that the sole motivation was the promise of chocolate buttons for successes. He can produce a wee on demand on the potty or toilet if he wishes to. But he never says when he needs to go, and will wet his pants even if I have asked five minutes before if he needs to go. So the only way to keep him dry is to chase him around with a potty every half hour. I am not sure if he even knows he is going to do a poo u til after the event. Have put him back in nappies this morning as he was asking for them and I have a new baby as well and this was pushing me over the edge from feeling that I was coping with them both to not! Do you think this was foolish and the potty chasing is just a hellish stage I have to go through, or is he still not quite ready??

have no useful advice apart from to say i think you are me-right down to the new baby! Ds has just peed himself despite my having just asked him if he needed to go, and i don't think he can tell when he needs a poo either. Think i am going to go back to nappies, if he'll let me!

I think you are me as well, although DD is nearly 6 months so a bit easier going. DS is 3 next month so feel we ought to give it a decent go but it does feel like I am just catching wee rather than potty training.
We have been going for 2 weeks now and trying to push it longer than 35 mins without the potty often results in accidents. Best bit of the day is when the bedtime nappy goes on and we can all breathe a sigh of relief.
I am awaiting news from experienced potty trainers!

my ds is 3 in june. There hasn't been much improvemenl today-topped off w a pre-dinner poo in pants. I just don't think he understands when he needs to go yet, so will give it a break and try again when he seems more ready. Annoyingly, dh and his side of family pushing to continue
