i think we're going to take the plunge

Potty purchased

Pants purchased (but if anyone knows od any with diggers on please let me know)

Then I came to realise I haven't got the faintest clue what to do. Is gina any good? Just need general instructions hints and tips

And what about books for DS? I've heard if mr pooland or something. Can anyone recommend any others, he likes books and I thought it might help him grasp it

Thanks

I bought the Potty Training in A Week GF book, but it didn't really help.

I got the Potty Book for Boys Here on Amazon to read to DS and also bought The Little Princess, "I want my potty" (a firm favourite) and also got one out form a library about a bear using his potty, which was brilliant, but I can't rememer what it was called. If I do I'll let you know.

With DS we left the potty about for ages and the started putting him on it before he had a bath. We found reading him the stories and going through the books every night for a week helped as well.

Bob the builder underpants from ASDA have Scoop on if that helps.

Good luck!

Was it 'on your potty'? We had that and dd still likes reading it even though she's been potty trained for over 6 months! The bear is called Bartholemew.

I know it's not a book but dd loved potty time with elmo DVD too, it is quite humorous for adults too.

My SIL bought me the Mumsnet Toddler book and the chapter in there on potty training is really helpful and practical. I also took a couple of books out of the library - something like 'Potty Training without the Tears' - which was most useful because the first chapter was 'if you only have 5 minutes' and summarised the whole book in two pages.

I've found "Stress-Free potty training: A commonsense guide for finding the right approach for your child" by Au and Stavinoha useful. It talks about general potty training strategies for all children, but then considers aspects of your childs personality that will affect potty training, and things you can do to help, or things to avoid. Includes a questionnaire to help you establish your childs personality type(s). Found it really helpful to think about it from my sons point of view.
