Support thread

Hello

I started potty training my 3 yo yeasterday and i was hoping there are a few other mums doing the same and that we could start a support thread.

Yeasterday was not great the score was floor 10 potty 3.

So far today it floor 2 potty 2 so i hope he is getting the idea but i'm still expecting some lots of problems along the way.

Please someone else join me along the road to going potty

Now starts day three.

Hi I might cautiously join you. Although I have had many failed attempts before.
Am going to try and get DD (Age 3) to wear pants today and see how it goes.
So far she has refused sitting on potty lots of times (in the past) So I am a bit .
She is at nursery during the week so I might try over the weekend and see where we are by Sunday night.

Day four: Floor 0 Potty 3

Yeasterday we had poo in pants twice and i thought we might have a problem but no today he pooed in the potty.

I have him in normal pants and a seat type potty in the livingroom. I ask him every 30 mins if he needs it as i have found if he is playing or watching tv he will forget and wee where he is standing.

I have also gone ott with praise when he gets it in the potty and then given him choclate buttons everytime he gets it in the potty but not if its on the floor.

If it goes on the floor i have just said "Lets change your pants and next time lets get it in the potty" and cleaned it up with out comment.

We tried with pull up huggies but they were just like nappies so he didn't get it.

Now i think he gets it but its been 4 days of the same thing everyday. I think consistancy is the answer.

But we have no been out yet so there is time for it to go wrong! In nursary he did 3 in the potty and had one accident. He is going to grand partens for lunch so i will see how that goes.

My son's nursary is very good and they have done the same as what i am doing so we get the consistancy and hopefully not confuse him.

My son will be 3yo next week.

I've had to quit again as DD got hysterical and wanted nappy back on. She just will not do anything in the potty.
The frustrating thing is that she says when she has done a "poop" (meaning either) so she knows. I just don't know where to go from here!

You sound like you are having a bit of success.

Have you tried her on the toilet with a seat on it? She might be more likely to copy you than use a potty maybe?

Lots of over the top priase works for Aaron; the first time he sat on a potty i jumped up and down clapping and telling him how proud i was of him and how good he looked on the potty

Then when he did a wee i did the same but then give him a choclate button. When he went on the floor i didn't give him a button but said never mind next time lets get it in th potty. Also nursary, his grandparents and even our cleaner all told him the same thing - that wee goes in the potty. He got the same message again and again from everyone which helps alot.

Aaron also used a teddy bear in play that first wear a nappy then a pull up and then he went on the potty too. Children learn thru play and it helps normalise what happens in their life so it really helped that Aaron could play "putting his toys on the potty" just like what he was doing.

Todays final score is floor 1 (but he was tring for the potty but couldn't pull his pants down fast enough) and potty 7
