Help with DD

Help! My DD with be 6 in Feb, she is still in nappies at night, she wets her panties most days at school. She doesn't like the toilet so she will only use a potty at home and at school she either wets her panties or holds it in all day. I have tried everything and docs just tell me she will grow out of it.
Any advice is appreciated.

Has she said why she doesn't like the toilet, in which case you could do something about it? I don't think this has any bearing on needing nappies at night btw. I think that this has now become a habit which is hard for her to break, rather like dummies and bottles in some children.

Unless you get a satisfactory reason from her, I think you could take a pro active approach and suggest a time limit on having the potty around. Say that on such and such a day the potty will not be available because big girls use the toilet. You could try and persuade her to give the potty away to a friend or relatives baby/toddler who needs it more than her. You could get a little friend round to show her how the loo is OK, or even comment "why are you still using a potty like a baby?" which might work if she thinks a lot of the friend and her good opinion of her. You could offer a present, which will only be given when the potty is despatched and she uses the loo.

I have to say that school loos are often unpleasant, and DC don't like using them, but sometimes it can be easier if a friend comes too as a support. Perhaps you could suggest DD goes at playtime and lunchtime whether she needs to or not, which might sort out the wetting. You could have a word with the class teacher to find out if there is anything bothering DD or if she seems insecure, and is there anything she could suggest to help DD.
