DS (3.5) been wearing pants for about 4 weeks..

...but still wont go to the toilet unless reminded and totally leaves it til the last minute after dancing around for ages...and gets to the toilet far too later..HELP

Have you tried bribary and stop reminding him. When he has accidents just tell him matter of fact that poo and wee wee goes in the toilet and if he gets it in the toilet then he will get chocolate.

Alternatively ask for professional help from a surestart centre or health visitor. At three and half the connections should be there.
