Hi,
Have been potty training DS2 for 2 weeks now, the first week was brilliant lots of wees and poos in the potty and no accidents at all, now this week seems to have taken two steps back. Wees are still going well, but he is now refusing to poo in the potty and says he doesn't need to go, but will then go in his pants. Am sick of washing and throwing out pants. Any advice on why this has happened when he was doing really well, or any suggestions on how to stop his doing this. And final question, should I put him in pull ups instead of pants for the time being? He is due to start nursery on Monday and they don't mind him being in pull ups, so not sure what to do!!!! Help!!!
Lx

How old is he? He might not be ready.

Any kind of 'pretending' they don't need or hiding can be a sign that its too soon & they are not ready, any anxiety will make him more likely to regress.

You could either stop trying, put in pull-ups and try again in a couple of weeks.

Or if you think he is ready, keep going but make no fuss over any 'accidents',
"Oops, never mind, am sure you'll get in potty next time", it will probably be much quicker than you think.

This is what I found anyway in my extensive potty-training reading & trials with DS Grin

I've done 6 weeks with my dd who is 2y3m. She's totally sussed wees but still unhappy about poos - preference to do in the bath if she can but when she does manage a "big poo" she is v proud of herself. She went straight to toilet as hated potty and v quickly sussed it at nursery - all the other kids are at the same stage so really helps - and nursery staff are so used to it. I will never go back to nappies. If she can work an iPad she can work out poos. I'm convinced it's just a matter of time....
