Fear of using potty

My DD is 2.5. I have tried to potty train her a few weeks ago - I didn't think she was quite ready but I had some pressure from family members.... anyway she did the odd wee on the potty but suddenly stopped. She now refuses to get on the potty at all, and when I bribe cajole her on she wants to get off immediately. However, she has control - she now tells me she's having a wee or a poo, and asks if she's wearing a nappy. When I say "Let's go and see if we can do it on the potty" she says "no... want to do it in the nappy" and runs off.

She really fears the potty / toilet. She definitely has the control though, but how do I persuade her to get back on the potty / toilet?

My friend recently had the same thing. She just asked her if she wanted to go each time dd told her she needed a wee but just accepted the answer was likely to be no. She basically stopped trying and suddenly 4 weeks later she has asked to go on the potty and all is going well

OK thanks for that.... we're leaving it completely alone now, so hopefully she'll want to do it soon.
