Should I try again (Second attempt)?

DD is 2yrs 10 mnths. she is in nappies at mo but she tells me when she has done wee / poo. do you think I should try again with potty training?
Did try in August but gave up in the end.
If I go for it, does anyone fancy trying with their little one too?

I'll try with you ds2 is 2.8, and I thought he was ready a couple of months back, but it didn't go well, so I've been waiting for ds1 to go back to school to start again. Need a kick up the bum to be honest, he starts nursey in january.

Hi hiccymapops , I'm a bit like you in that I've been waiting for ds to go back to school too before we tried again.
I might start trying tomorrow cause she is having an afternoon nap at the mo.

My little man was in bed too been dd's christening today, so been a bit manic.

Morning I think I'm going to have to wait till Wednesday, I didn't think, he's got his first feet group tomorrow morning at school for 1.5 hours, to see nursery and stuff, then we've got to go back in the afternoon to meet ds1's teacher. Might confuse him if I put him in pants today, then a nappy tomorrow, as I don't really want him to worry about anything his first time at school. If I start on Wednesday, he'll have a few days to get used to it (I'm hoping!)

Good luck today I'll check to see how it's going.

I put her in pants till about 3.00pm. we had one pair of wet pants. I've been too busy to try since, so she has been in a nappy since 3.00pm. Getting a bit late in the day now to try anymore.

hello :) i started potty training my 3yo DS on sunday. so far he is 100% for wees and poos in the potty but only if he has nothing on his bottom half. if i put him in trousers he wees through them and seems to find this very dispiriting. so far he has refused to try wearing pants going to try bribing him to wear pants today and see how it goes.

Hello, I haven't tried at all with her today because I have been out all morning so she has a nappy on. I haven't got the energy today to do it (I have anaemia) and the strong wind has worn me out.
I am hopefully going to try again tomorrow morning.

Hope you feel better soon littlemiss, I'm definitely starting tomorrow, I can stay in all day apart from the school run, which is only a five minute walk away (so any accidents will be okay)

I think that's where we struggled before aStar (sorry if I've got your name wrong, I'm on my phone and it's fiddly going back to check) ds2 was doing okay with nothing on his bottom half, but as soon as he had pants and trousers on, he wet them.

I feel like I missed the window with him, if you know what I mean. He seemed really ready to toilet train just as dd was born, he was telling me when he was going, and wanted to try the toilet. But I'd literally just had dd, so it was a bit awkward with a newborn, and I thought I'd give it a month, now he's not interested!! Typical! It was much easier with ds1, when I just had him to focus on.

That's interesting hiccy as I also have 6 week old DD and I am indeed finding it a PITA to manage everything I am in two minds about whether now is the right time, really, as I know he is capable of doing it but not sure whether I am! But now we've started I feel like it would be lame to just quit because it's boring the arse off me it's a bit inconvenient - for all I know he might have suddenly grasped it by the end of this week [ever hopeful emoticon]

we've had a breakthrough here - DS is wearing pants and trousers, on his third set but has successfully managed two wees and a poo on the potty while keeping them dry...i am very proud :)

Don't worry about it, our Ocado delivery bloke and the postman have more than once been subjected to a naked/half naked toddler running down the stairs to see who is at the door.

Seriously, wine yet?! Can't ds2 train ds1, as I've done it once already?

Not doing too bad, he's been on his little potty/chair thing, and in the toilet. But it's still a novelty at the minute, so he's getting on every two seconds! Me toilet now, me toilet now......... We now have pants on (well not at the minute, he's in bed, so I've nappied)

School run will be fun .

that's good progress though :) and what do you mean, the younger ones don't just train themselves - you mean i'll have to do this all again?

am stunned by DS's progress. he is now taking himself to the potty, pulling his clothes up and down by himself. my little star!

need to go out tomorrow, that will be a big step

I know aStar, you'd think doing it once was enough You just can't get the bairns nowadays. Sounds like your ds is doing really well, good going .

I'm only using nappies for bedtimes. I'm housebounding us for a few days. School run went okay, walking the hounds with daddy before bathtime did not. See how tomorrow goes. Supposed to be going away this weekend, might have to rethink that!

How's everyone doing today? We were fine till I left him outside playing in his sandpit while I fed dd. Lovely present for me in his pants when I went back outside Hope it gets easier, ds1 (5) is bringing a friend home for tea, so it'll be like a madhouse later, I'm going to take headache tablets before I get them .

our first outing today, and it was successful! one half-accident in the library cafe (finished off wee in potty), two wees completely in potty while at library, one poo in potty unexpectedly deposited while shopping in Wilkinsons meaning I had to come home with a turd in a carrier bag. but at least it was in the potty eh? feel like I have passed some sort of parenting milestone.

oh, and then one set of wet pants at home because he was mid-epic tantrum and got distracted. thankfully the weeing was such a surprise he shut up

hiccymapops Sorry I think I worded that all wrong. I guess what I'm trying to say is, How do I potty train?
do your dc know to pull their own pants up and down and sit themselves on potty or is it very much a case of you having to sit them on potty and hope something happens. we seem to be getting nowhere at the mo. just wet pairs of pants. She seems to poo when she is in a nappy.
astar you sound like it is going well.
