Which Potty to go for?HELP

Hi All

I'm looking into potty training and am not sure which potty to go for. There are sooooooooooooo many from cheap ones to £30 ones. Which ones have you used and worked? And which potty was just a waste of money?

Cheap one for all mine.

That way they don't get attatched to bells and whistles which they won't have if you have a potty at grandma's, or use a potty at nursery.

I found a 99p one from Morrisons worked well. Used it for two children as well. Depending on when you start you may not need to use a potty at all though.

My daughter is 18 months old. I already have a padded potty seat for the main toilet. But I think I should start with an actual potty first.

Just a cheapy one from local chemist here. One upstairs, one downstairs.

Then he asked, ney pleaded for one with Tombliboos on, which I found in Mothercare.

Depending on the layout of your house/proximity of toilets I would go straight to the toilet (with a liftable child seat on it) - otherwise it's just an unnecessary step in between. Unless you have a big house and only an upstairs toilet I really can't see the need for one, other than a travel one for emergencies.

If you are going to buy one, just make sure it's not too small and easy to clean (so no bells and whistles).

Check out amazon selection as most are rated by other parents. Green frog £15 approx went down well with my son & I likes it's high front ( needed for boys wee) if u understand! Training books advise against novelty pottys & I agree. good luck

I have an expensive one from Fisher Price that DD loves that will turn into step stool plus toilet seat insert when DD transitions to using the toilet. It is very stable and more like a toilet which helps DD see the connection, but also does not tip over easily which was good for us as we started potty training at 18 months and DD found it easy to get on and off without help. Also has lift out section for the waste which is easy to clean out.

I also have the 99p Morrisons one that someone else recommended that is great for taking out and about on the buggy and now DD is a bit bigger at 2.1 years she can get off this one without help. It is a bit bulkier and not so easily cleaned so I use it upstairs as secondary potty and when out.

thank you all for your views. Its really helped. I didn't fancy spending so much money on a potty!!

Its the first day of potty training (which was unplanned as I still need to buy a potty)

A few months ago I bought a padded toilet child seat for my LO. So this morning I used that and she was very comfortable and did a poo.:)

Zhenxiany- I didn't think of going out and about and needing a potty. I think I will buy a cheap potty to keep for travel etc.
