Asking for nappy to wee into

my 2.9 year old son can hold his wee in for hours. When he needs a wee he will get really distressed and want a nappy on. He will sit on the potty for a few seconds but does not seem to be happy to wee into it. If we dont put a nappy on he gets hysterical.

Help! Anyone with similar situation.

Would he sit on the potty with the nappy on? You could work towards undoing the nappy eventually, then sitting on the nappy-lined potty, and then some loo paper in the bottom of of the potty, then nothing. Might break him in gently, as some dc don't like the splashing or something falling away from them, which doesn't happen in a nappy.

Forgot to say, get cheap value nappies for this and save the good ones for sleep.

Will have a try thanks. So frustrating as he obviously knows he wants to go.
