DD2 is 21 months and for the last while has been telling us everytime she does a poo and sometimes when she does a wee, she seems to recognise when she is doing a wee when her nappy is off just as it starts to come out. We put her on the potty occasionally and she is doing wee's more frequently on it. I wasn't planning on training her for another six months but now I think she might be ready????

She is definitely showing the signs! Is she staying dry for any length of time? We found our DS1 went through several stages before he was ready - telling us he was having a poo, being curious about DH and I when we went to the toilet and then becoming very self-conscious (taking himself off behind the sofa to do a poo). He was older than your DD but it sounds as if she is already getting there. Why not try it and if she isn't 100% ready you can always try again in a few months time. Good luck!

You could sit her on the potty at each nappy change, or at regular times through the day, putting the nappy back on between times. If she does something in the potty most of the time, she is doing well. This can go on for a few months if you want it to, she may start at some point to indicate her need before she does it, if she can hold on enough for you to get her on the potty she will be ready. No harm at all in starting gently at first with a young toddler.
