Does anyone have any experience of this? Apparently its about training your child to respond to cues from birth and so not use nappies. Saw them using it in China where apparently it is the norm.

Apologies if already a bit discussion about it. Had a quick search of MN and could only see one reference to it which led to a no longer functioning link.

Cheers

I do it. I'd be happy to answer any specific questions, although you might have to attract my attention with a PM, as I don't watch threads.

A friend of mine did, and found this book really useful.

I kinda do it - he wears a nappy most of the time just in case, but has been doing a fair proportion of his poos in a potty since he was 6 weeks old (9 months now) - my major motivation was that we live in a flat and didn't want stinky nappies around. Once you've got into the swing, it's way nicer to wipe a bum that's pooed on a potty rather than smeared all over in a nappy.

The peeing does take some dedication - although I think that he's self-training there a little as I haven't tried hard - he doesn't wet his nappies during naps, and if you put him on the potty when he wakes up in the morning then his nappy is all-but-dry overnight too.

I think another advantage is that he's never got used to a dirty/wet nappy, and now that he's walking he'll actually come to me for a change if we've missed the cues for the potty.
