We started potty training with my son 2 weeks ago, he's 2.8.

He's been doing well, pretty much down to no accidents, but he is being a bit weird. He's fine going on the potty but once he's finished he shoves his hands into the wee! Tonight he upped the ante and rubbed his hands on his face and then tried to get me. He can't do it if I manage to grab him first, but he makes a determined effort each time and does it if I don't manage to pre-empt him. He started off by throwing his cuddly in there, then sticking his feet in. He doesn't do it at nursery.

I've never heard of any kid doing this before, so what the he'll is going on? It makes it hard to 'celebrate' him doing his wees on the potty, when I have to pretty much say " no,no,no don't do that " as he sticks his hands in immediately he's finished!

Is this really odd? Should we be worried?

Nah, he's learned this makes mummy make a funny noise that's all. I would suggest you give him something to hold that can be dunked safely (not ducks etc) but plastic cars etc are good. Make car noises, then suggest when he's finished he runs them to the sink so he can wash hands. (i.e. distract and bamboozle him!) :)
