Is it possible that there is something actually wrong?

DS is 3yrs 3months.

We have attempted potty training at least 5 times in the past but he has never really embraced it. We have tried rewards etc but still to no avail.

Today we have started again. All day yesterday he was very excited about big boy pants.

Today:

6 accidents including one poo one.

Not one wee or poo in the potty or toilet.

He comes and tells me after he has completely finsihed so not even as it is happening and he is getting caught short.

He even said his poo was nice and soft.

My question is, is it possible that he is not feeling the urge and it just happens? I am not sure if such a condition even exists but he just is so not bothered by any of it.

Am I doing something wrong? He knows where the toilet is, he often goes in there with his big brother so he has an example to learn from, we have a potty in the living room and another in the hallway but he doesnt even attempt.

Do I just need to persevere? I am not sure what else I can do, either persevere or go back to nappies.

It will just click with him at some point, try not to worry or stress about it. Don't comment on the accidents, and praise when he gets it right.

He is still young, give him time. Smile

It took most of the year until he was 4 and even then he had accidents still outside of school time when he was playing and too distracted to register he needed to wee.

Boys are just like that. It isn't at all unusual. He's six now and fine. It just happens when it happens and all the training and incentives you can give don't make any difference. At least that was our experience.

do you sit him on the potty every 15 minutes or so?

He wont sit on the potty or toilet even every 30 mins. He says he will sit on it when he needs a wee and then doesnt.

DS1 was just so simple and easy at 2.5 that 3.3 just seems old IYSWIM.

Do I just need to keep the nappies off and hope that he decides he would rather do it in the toilet or potty than in his pants.

HE just made no effort whatsoever at all.

He is supposed to start nursery in September but to my knowledge they wouldnt take him with nappies and he really wants to go with his brother to school. Have already approached it from this angle too.
