After a month or so talking about going to the toilet and sitting on the loo 2 to 4 times a day we have finally gone for it!

She has worn pants all day, we have had 2 wees in the loo and loads of very very near misses.

She doesn't like being wet and tells us just as she does it. Mummy wee...

Is she ready, do we just keep going? What was your first day like?

I would perserve she's not going to get the first day, work on the fact that you've had two wees on the potty, and she doesn't like being wet, the children that don't care are harder to train (my belief) I would continue for at least a few more days if not a week, it will take her a while to realise the certain feeling and getting to the toilet before it happens, and in the first few days/weeks depending on the child you may have to take her to the toliet.

At the end of yesterday and so far this morning we have been going every half hour for a try, is that too often? I feel like we are always in the loo. We only stay for 5 mins at a time.

Thanks cookielove, I dont know why but I think I expected more success on the 1st day.

No its not to often, when she starts to get the hang of you can leave it for longer periods between going for a try, also if she does lots of little wees she'll have to go more, sometimes they start with little and often then move up to holding it for longer and doing larger wees as they progress.

How has she done today?

We are doing so well with potty training now, thanks for keeping me calm and holding my nerve.

She is now generally dry, with an accident every few days, but normally when she is playing and forgets to ask. She finally did a poo in the potty today! I saw she needed one and chased her around and watched her like a hawk until she started.
