Started potty training DS today. He is 3 years, 2 months and frankly I feel like I cannot hold off any longer. He is pretty much the last one at playgroup to still be in a nappy and I am starting to feel a bit judged for being 'the lazy parent' when really having had two failed attempts already I know he's not really ready. But I have opted to step and bite the bullet. Please please encourage me to keep going and reassure me that this is going to get better, more successful and easier. So far he has done two wees on the potty Smile, no poos anywhere (I'm bracing myself for when it does happen!) and he is currently wearing his TENTH change of pants/trousers Shock. Should I just stop and start again in a fortnight? Or will he finally start to get it if I just persevere...?! Confused MPD

I think the fact he's done 2 wees in a potty is great. When I did it with my son at 3yrs 1 month he didn't perform in the potty once until night 4 when I was just on the verge of giving up. He was dry after about 8 days. Also used a fab chart with him (my big star chart www.encourageandpraise.co.uk) which I'm convinced really helped. I would get a chart and go with perservering. I think if you just left it a fortnight anyway it would just confuse him...think you'd need to leave at least 3 months. Don't worry about what ewveryone else is thinking either. Sod them! x

Make that three wees and a poo! My child is indeed a (slightly dribbly) genius! Thanks Sopster - your encouragement has convinced me to keep going. Smile MPD

What a little star. I'm glad I could help. I remember those first few days being hideous but my God it's great when they get it!! PS I just reused my chart this week to try and get him to eat different food and today its finally worked and he ate spag bol!!!! This is a miracle in our world!! Good luck!
