What do you do about going places when potty training?

I don't mean in the 1st few days, we are trying (again!) this weekend and I have just cancelled all plans bar a few trips to places where it doesnt matter too much! But looking forward, I am not optimistic re quick success, so say 3-4 weeks down the line I am meant to be meeting a friend at soft play but surely I can't do that if Dd might pee in the balls??! There are sOme places where I just really feel Dd weeing is not on, but likewise we can't cancel all plans forever!

Potty in big bag. Ignore everyone else!
Cut up couple of nappies and put in bottom of potty to absorb wee if you are not near toilets then dispose of in nappy sack. Much cheaper than those potette things

Thanks! Have no qualms carting or using potty but surely that relies on Dd knowing when to use it? (currently just peeing with apparently no notice/knowledge!)

I suspect wee in ball pools is unavoidable...
Take a potty, I had a potette which was quite handy as it folds up small, the extra liners are a bit pricey, but another MNetter siad she used small plastic bin bags with a sanitary towel in the bottom to soak up the wee which was much cheaper.
If DD is playing and engrossed, you just need to remind/ask her a few times during play so she doesn't leave it too late.
I took DD to a soft play area when she was recently potty trained and was on pins the whole time - in the end she got cross with me for asking if she needed a wee! She has been remarkably good though, very few accidents, but was a very late potty trainee (if thats such a word)

Oh wait a bit longer then! Hard I know we all want the dream dry child but if you are determined, fill them up with ribena then sit on pot and keep them on pot doing sticker books, marks and s have great books! I found keeping on potty was the key as they love the cheering and flushing etc when the wee actually lands in the right place.

I just keep reading threads where kids are still having accidents 4-5 months in, can see Dd heading that way! Can't stay in forever!

How old is your DD?
Mine was about 3 and a bit before we could persuade her out of nappies, but once dry she hasn't looked back.

She is 3 and 2mths, so on the late side I guess. Just seems completely unconcerned by being wet, and is very stubborn, so taking her to the loo/potty, asking if she needs to go etc, just ends in a fight! I don't want to make it a battle of wills!
Sadly think you are right re wee in ball pools...blee!

Mine was determined to stay in nappies, I failed with conventional toilet training and in the end she had a 'eureka' moment - I was running a bath and had undressed her, she realised she needed a wee and asked for a nappy to be put back on, I said 'just a minute while I run your bath' then took aaages, lots of running water noises etc and said casually, 'why not use the potty' by this time she could not hold it in any longer and was hopping about with wee trickling through her fingers (cruel mummy!) but made a dash for the potty and finished off there and from that day she has barely had an accident.
Getting her to poo in the potty took another 6 months though.
