Hi,

My daughter is almost two( will be at the weekend), as she's big for her age( 15kg, 91cm tall), she's been on the largest size of pull ups for a while, which with the VAT increase are now too expensive. So I asked her nursery if they could help potty train her, they agreed to take her to toilets regularly, and for the first week, they said it was working well( but they were keeping the pull ups on, as I found out later). I on my side, went cold turkey, using bribery and a song to celebrate using the potty, she had a bare bottom, and I put on knickers on her to go out, and she is dry when we are out for about 30 minutes.Technically, DD can hold herself for 1h30 mins. Now I 've been having a disagreement with the nursery because I asked the key worker to only use the pull ups for naps, and no pull up for home time, to help her get more bladder control. But every time I collect her she has a nappy, which the team leader justifies with a " she wet herself and she's not quite ready".In my book, accidents are part and parcel of the process, and unless she's been taken regularly to toilets, can be avoided( she does not ask for the toilets yet and drinks a lot of water). So here I am pulling my hair as to how to handle this problem as we can't go back and the nursery is just , in my opinion sending very mixed messages to me an my DD.

I agree with you - pullups are too confusing, I think they need to not wear them except for sleeptime.

Sounds like their may be a dissonance between how ready you think she is and how read they think she is.

I started training my DD last MOnday but she takes herself off to the toilet at home - I only ask her if she needs to go if she's not been for 2.5plus hours or if we're out and paranoid! I would expect her to ask to go if she's ready? I'm really no expert though!
