We're a week in to potty training DS (2.9)
He totally gets it - was down to one wee accident a day by day 3, and would happily take himself to the potty for wees and poos. Always made it for poos with plenty of time to spare, and even the wee accidents were usually as he was on his way to the potty. He's also dry after naps and about half the mornings, so he has very good bladder control.
He's had 3 days at nursery and got it pretty well, and was completely dry yesterday!! However, they do remind him lots and he then goes when he needs to, so apparently hasn't actually been spontaneously at nursery.
Today at home has been a disaster. Two accidents this morning while playing, one success at lunchtime when I asked him to sit on the potty after lunch, and now a wee and poo in his pants without any attempt to get to the potty. This is the first poo accident since we started.
I don't want to go down the route of reminding him every hour like they do at nursery if it means he doesn't learn to really recognise the signals himself, but nor do I want him to have an accident that upsets him (we tried before Christmas but stopped when he got really upset about a poo that went on the floor).
Any tips? Should I be reminding him? Should I say nothing and let him work it out himself? Is having a rubbish day after all the good days normal?
