Hello!

My DS is 2, just turned 2 at New year, started potty training as he seemed really interested, although didnt have the hang of pulling pants off, i let him run around knicker free and just used nappies for naptime and bedtime, first 10 days excellent, a couple of accidents here and there, but other than that, reached the milestone of peeing and poo'ing in po! The last three days however he seems to have lost complete interest, and will just stand and pee in front of you, like on my bed today even though the potty is literally yards away Hmm and peeing all over the house, whether he is naked or has pants on, has poo'd all over the floors for the last three days and then takes you to it to show you, i have tried being calm, not telling him off and saying next time in po and all that, but nothing seems to be working.
i know he is probably rather young, but im following that damn Gina ford book, and as he seemed to be doing really well, i thought it was great to continue, now i am not so sure? Should i go back to nappies? i feel bad if i do cause when he was getting it in po he seemed so proud, but my house now smells of pee and poo and im in despair! PLEASE HELP!

Yes, go back to nappies. I think what success you've had is more likely to have been luck than readiness, added to a certain novelty value of the potty being around. It's not the same as having the understanding and the muscle control and the ability to read the signals that potty training needs. I would leave it a good few months - with my DSs I didn't really even try until they hit 3.

Thank you, i'm leaving him tonight, with his pants still off, cause why not add more pee and poo smells to the house before i deep clean when he goes to bed Grin
and then tomorrow, i'm thinking i'll put nappies on him and if he asks to go to po on his own, then i'll take em off and i'll take him :)

Sounds like a good plan - whatever you do, just make sure he sees you being calm and chilled and mellow about it all. If he sees/senses that you're stressed, it will become a much bigger deal for him and that might well slow things down. He's still very young for it.

yeah i'm going to my husband is like stressed eric, and when he saw him stressing about it earlier, his poor little face looked a picture, i had to tell Daddy off Hmm but he will say "po" if he needs occasionally or will just head straight to it himself. So we'll see! I can't also work out if it's because it's the weekend, and he's having the attention of his daddy constantly and therefore not at all interested in po!
