22 month old and the Potty

Just wanted opinions really. My 22 month old has a big bro and he has decided to use the potty to copy his brother which is great. He has done nearly all his poos in there for the last three weeks and lots of wees but by no means all. He is currently in pull ups out of the house as I am thinking it may be too early for him to go cold turkey but then I am wondering whether I am confusing him. Should I just go for it and go cold turkey or will it put him off if he is not quite ready? I went cold turkey with my older boy but he was over two.

Keep using the pull-ups if he is still wetting them and especially if he doesn't tell you he needs to go. I think if you have presented the pull-ups to him as special pants rather than a nappy he won't be confused. He seems to have a good idea of what to do and also is enthusiastic, so he will probably just improve in getting dry and decide he wants proper pants soon! Or it could become less of a novelty, if you go cold turkey, because you will become more attentive to avoiding accidents and therefore less laid back. The other option would be to get cloth trainer pants for going out, as they seem less nappy like.

I think its best to wait till he tells you he needs the loo. Then you know he is ready.I bought my son some toy story pants which he loves and is always happy to wear them.

Thanks guys - I have had him in pants at home and nappies out, but once he starts telling me most of the time then I will take the next step.
