Reward Charts and Potty Training

I just answered a couple of threads about this so thought I would do a post as it worked so well for me. I bought a reward chart to potty train my son when he was aged about 2yrs 8 months. I gave him a smiley face sticker for every 'potty performance' and then he got a small reward after collecting 10 stickers...anything from a small toy/book, extra bedtime stories, extra episode of favorite programmes or even once baking cakes! It took until the evening of day 4 to get 'performance 1' by which time I had almost lost the will to live and was on the verge of giving up but after that it really was a breeze and he was accident free in about 10 days. There are lots of charts out there but the one I used was called My Big Star Chart from EncourageAndPraise.co.uk. It also came with stickers for things other than potty training like eating, tidying up and manners so we are now using it for different things (trying new foods!).
