DS is 2y10m and I decided to go for broke with potty training today. With ds1 I did the whole cold turkey, only pants no going back to pull ups and he was dry in three days at this age (after previous failures I should add)

I've always believed in the cold turkey method but only when they're ready for it. So far today ds2 has screamed blue murder when ever i've tried to put him on the loo and I've just found him happily sat in his own wee and poo. He seemed oblivious to it tbh.

So shall I just forget it for a couple of months and try again?

I would wait - even though ds1 did it at this age ds2 doesn't sound ready. With my ds he was 3+1mth when he decided he was ready - we'd tried 3 or 4 times before that , bought books, potties etc but he wasn't interested. He went into pants about 2 months ago and has only had a few accidents and is very good at asking to go to loo. He wasn't ready before.
