ds 3.8 doesn't seem to get it?

Hi ds 3.8 is still in nappies and not sure where to go now. If left with nothing on will happily and successfully use toilet for bothe wees and poos ( with odd accident which he then gets distressed about) Problem comes when I put pants on him and we have the full remit - wet pants and dirty ones which he doesn't seem to notice (or care about) and will wear until I or dh notices and changes him. He is still in nappies for pre-school and if we leave the house and also at night. He also won't tell us if his nappy if wet or dirty.
Is it time to go "cold turkey" or is there something else going on - forgot to say he has epilepsy and a severe speech delay, otherwise a normal happy little boy.

oh def go cold turkey if he is reliable without pants

i had this with ds1 and ds2. took about a week or so before i could get them to wear pants and go to the toilet.

so find a week when you don't have to go out and do anything and just get down to it. I think i started by just popping pants on for short periods and then gradually lengthening it
