DS is 2.8. We decided to start on Thursday when snowed in and Thurs/Fri/Sat were brilliant - no full accidents from Thurs lunchtime and either got to the potty in time or did a small leak and then stopped himself and got to the potty, and quickly went to 2-3 hours between each potty trip. Stickers and choc buttons for each success, all very good, but by Saturday evening he was going to the potty without a fuss and not asking for sticker or choc after so we didn't give it but did still praise him for using the potty.
Yesterday and this morning, not quite so good. Leaks each time before getting to the potty (but only one full accident) and also did one poo in his pants yesterday evening, plus a bit reluctant to go to potty (says he can't pull his pants down etc.) and getting a bit upset about e.g. requests to wash hands etc. Basically I think the novelty is wearing off for him.
Still all great - he is totally ready for it (dry nappy at all nap times and even dry nappy this morning so clearly had the bladder control) and is doing brilliantly, but I don't want to get into a downward spiral now.
Do I bring back offering the rewards even if he doesn't ask and make a huge fuss each time he has a success? Do I just ignore the little leaks for now or do we talk about them (in a "better luck next time" rather than shouting way of course)?
Basically looking for top tips on consolidating his brilliant start rather than it going downhill now he realises it is for life and not just a fun game any more!
Thanks!
