Hi there

My DD is 17 months and recently has started enjoying sitting on the potty in the bathroom for fun (she still has her trousers and nappy on). We bought the potty a while back just to keep in the bathroom so she got used to it but haven't done any training.

She sits down on it, laughs and we both clap and make wee-wee gushing sounds.

She knows what doing a wee and a poo is, though she's not yet able to tell me she's done one in her nappy.

Do you think she is still too young to "get" potty training? She has never actually weed in the potty, she just likes sitting on it for a laugh when I am in the loo!

Give it a gentle light hearted go.

Just maybe offering the potty around bath time or when she is likely to need to go.

If nothing happens don't stressed.

If it does, bonus! You are starting to build the association between wee/poo and potty (as opposed to nappy)

Even getting on and off the potty is a skill to be mastered so she willl be learning this.

Some will say she might not be "ready"

Google "elimination communication" for an alternative view on that.

good luck Smile
